Why you need to focus on your Mindset
This morning when I woke up, I did not feel like getting up. It was dark, I could hear the wind blustering outside and I knew it was a typical British winters day, where you want to just snuggle under the covers and go back to sleep. However, I had made a commitment to myself this year to get up and do an exercise workout before breakfast and starting my day so I would stop making excuses later in my day that I didn't have enough time. It would have been so easy to say "I'll just give it a miss today and pick up tomorrow" but I knew if I did that, I would fall back into the same old pattern that makes me not follow through with my intentions. So I took a few minutes to enjoy being in a warm, cosy bed and then I got up and stuck to my promise to myself. And I feel great for doing that.
This morning was a breakthrough for me. I followed through, which is something I have always struggled with.
The mind is incredibly powerful and is always creating. Where intention goes, energy flows and that is why your Mindset is so important. What you focus on becomes your reality. What you tell yourself, becomes your reality. The thoughts you think and the words you speak create your experiences. What thoughts are you thinking? What words are you speaking? What are you constantly telling yourself and is it something you want to be telling yourself?
It is so easy to fall into old patterns and dialogues but when you stop yourself and notice what you are thinking and speaking, they may not be thoughts or words that feel good or serve you.
You can do anything you set your mind to. This is something we are teaching our children every day as it is so powerful. There are no limits in this world, only the limits we place on ourselves. Believe it. A belief is merely a thought that you repeat over and over again until it becomes a Belief. What Beliefs do you want to create in your Life?
No matter what difficulties you may be experiencing, what fears and worries you may be feeling, you are in control of your mind and you get to choose how you will react. The more difficulties we face in Life, the more resilient and strong we get. I remember all the times I felt totally devastated when Life threw a curveball and things didn't go the way I wanted them to go. I felt like a victim and would wallow in self pity. Over the years I have experienced many difficulties but as I look back now, I know all the adversity has made me into the strong person I am today. Now I see difficulties as problems to be solved. I focus on the solutions instead of the problem. There is always a solution and I choose to go with the flow to see where it will take me.
Next time you have a problem or are stuck in fear or worry, ask yourself "What is the worst that can happen?" and then ask yourself "What is the best that can happen?" Try focusing on the latter as the first option probably won't happen anyway.
Sometimes we just need to get out of our own way and surrender to something greater than ourselves, instead of trying to do everything on our own. All the answers are within us, we just need to slow down and get still so we can hear the whispers of our inner voice guiding us.
The next time something happens that throws you off kilter, allow yourself to acknowledge and feel the emotions that come up, don't try and block it. But then look for the opportunity and the good that can come out of it.
What helps you keep a positive Mindset?
I would love to hear from you about what you do to stay focused and positive or if you are struggling and desperately need help, let me know.
With love,
