The Power of your Mind
We can be really hard on ourselves sometimes when we wake up feeling flat, unmotivated and downright low. Some days it can feel like life is weighing heavily on your shoulders and you just can’t see the light. You may even have a little tantrum or pity party and even a good cry. I want you to know that this is absolutely normal. It is OK to have days when you don’t feel 100%, it is OK to have dips and it is absolutely OK to have a good cry to let it all out. We don’t have to be on our A game every day.
You may find yourself telling yourself all kinds of things when you feel low, that aren’t true. For instance, you might find yourself saying “I’m just not good enough” or “I feel like a failure” or “I’m not good at anything” or “I’m a horrible mother” or “Nobody likes me” and so on and so on. Let yourself have your rant and feel the emotions and when you’re finished go within and reconnect to the truth of who you truly are, a beautiful and unique human being who can accomplish anything you set your mind to. When we dig deep, we do know it is true. Your mind has the power to take you to the valleys as well as to the mountain top, depending on what you choose to think. And yes, it is a choice.
The mind is incredibly powerful and is always creating. Where intention goes, energy flows and that is why your Mindset is so important. What you focus on becomes your reality. What you tell yourself, becomes your reality. The thoughts you think and the words you speak create your experiences. What thoughts are you thinking? What words are you speaking? What are you constantly telling yourself and is it something you want to be telling yourself?
You can do anything you set your mind to. There are no limits in this world, only the limits we place on ourselves. Believe it. A belief is merely a thought that you repeat over and over again until it becomes a Belief. What Beliefs do you want to create in your Life?
No matter what difficulties you may be experiencing, what fears and worries you may be feeling, you are in control of your mind and you get to choose how you will react. The more difficulties we face in Life, the more resilient and strong we get. I remember all the times I felt totally devastated when Life threw a curveball and things didn't go the way I wanted them to go. I felt like a victim and would wallow in self pity. Over the years I have experienced many difficulties but as I look back now, I know all the adversity has made me into the strong person I am today. Now I see difficulties as problems to be solved. I focus on the solutions instead of the problem. There is always a solution and I choose to go with the flow to see where it will take me.
Next time you have a problem or are stuck in fear or worry, ask yourself "What is the worst that can happen?" and then ask yourself "What is the best that can happen?" Try focusing on the latter as the first option probably won't happen anyway.
Sometimes we just need to get out of our own way and surrender to something greater than ourselves, instead of trying to do everything on our own. All the answers are within us, we just need to slow down and get still so we can hear the whispers of our inner voice guiding us. Don’t be afraid to ask for help. Sometimes it helps to have someone listen while we talk the issue through, AHA moments often arise when you do this.
The next time something happens that throws you off kilter, allow yourself to acknowledge and feel the emotions that come up, don't try and block it. But then look for the opportunity and the good that can come out of it.
What helps you keep a positive Mindset?
I would love to hear from you about what you do to stay focused and positive or if you are struggling and desperately need help, let me know.
