The Magic of You
As human beings we are rather complex. We tend to overthink, over plan, over worry about things that may not even happen. We put shields up and sometimes layers in order to protect ourselves from being seen as vulnerable. We worry about what others think of us, we worry about making mistakes, we want to do things perfectly so we procrastinate and don’t even try. We focus on the destination instead of enjoying the journey.
I recently did a masterclass on Tapping into the Magic of You. We all have magic within us and contrary to what many of us may believe, we are enough just as we are. We all have gifts to offer to the world to make it a better place and to help our fellow humans. What usually stops us from realising our full potential is Fear. Fear can have a paralysing effect that stops us in our tracks. We procrastinate and focus on all the reasons why we shouldn’t start or try to do what we feel called to do. Fear can stop us seeking medical help in case you find out there is something really wrong. Fear can stop you following your dream in case you fail. Fear can stop you being yourself and expressing your emotions as people may see your vulnerabilities, so you hold it all in. Fear can keep you playing small. It can drown out your higher self, your inner wisdom and your magic.
Fear is a powerful emotion and can be used to your advantage. Let it be your compass. Remember a time when you did something you were afraid to do, how did you feel afterwards? Confident, elated, good, expansive, powerful? Instead of avoiding what you fear, focus on doing those things. Once you push past your fear, you grow and become even greater. There is nothing you cannot do once you put your mind to it. There is nothing you cannot overcome. There is nothing you cannot achieve. Make a list of all the things you are afraid of. Awareness is the first step to overcoming them. Be brave and start doing the things on your list.
I personally find it difficult to ask for help and let people see my vulnerabilities. My thinking is along the lines of ‘Surely doing the work I do, I should have my S**T together?’ But I’m human too and that is all a part of how we learn and grow. Every single one of us experiences times when we feel not good enough or small, where we try and put up a mask to stop people from seeing what we are feeling. We all try and hold our emotions in check as we have been programmed to think that it isn’t socially acceptable to let people see how we are feeling. Have you responded with ‘I’m fine’ when someone has asked you how you are, even though you don’t feel fine? You are not alone, it is OK to let people in. It is OK to not feel ‘fine’ or great all of the time.
We need to allow our true selves to shine through and be visible. Allow yourself to feel whatever is coming up for you, whether it’s anger, sadness, grief, irritation or despair. Then remember that feeling good is a choice and you are powerful. You are exactly where you need to be and life loves and supports you.
The journey is just as important as the destination so have fun along the way and do things that make you feel good. As I write this I am looking at beautiful sunflowers on my table that I brought for myself because I love them and they make me feel happy when I look at them. Nourish yourself along your journey because when you feel good, it radiates out and touches everyone you come into contact with allowing you to share the magic of you and make a difference in this world.
What will you do to unleash your Magic?
I would love to hear from you, let me know what fears you are going to push through.
With love,
