Start the year with intention

Start 2023 with Intention

January 05, 20233 min read

At this time of year in the northern hemisphere we are in the throws of winter. There is a feeling of wanting to hibernate and hunker down, to go within. It is a time to reflect on the previous year, to forgive and let go of what no longer serves you. It is a time to dream and envision the year ahead and how you would like it to unfold. You have a blank canvas, what are you going to paint on it?

Start thinking about your Intentions for the year ahead:

What do you want to create this year?
Who do you want to be?
What do you want to achieve?
How do you want to feel at the end of the year?
What do you need to do in order to grow and be the best version of yourself?

Setting intentions for your year is like plotting a destination for a journey. You may deviate a little along the way but you know where you are headed, which makes it easier to get there. Getting creative when setting intentions is the best way to staying on track. Why not try creating a vision board so you can see pictures of your goals every day. What you focus on comes to you. Have you ever noticed that before buying a new car, you never see any on the road but after you get your car suddenly there are loads on the road. Reconnect with your inner child and carve out some time to cut out pictures or words from magazines and stick them onto a board creating a visual image of what you would like your year to be and what you would like to bring to you.

When setting your intentions and goals for the year, ask yourself
why you want to achieve them. What do you want to feel when you achieve your goals? That is the key to succeeding. Do you want to feel more energised, healthier, mental clarity, fitter, stronger, confident, courageous, independent, good enough, worthy, loved?

The next step is
setting small action steps to get you there. When goals seem too big and overwhelming, we often don't end up achieving them. But if we break them down into manageable steps, it becomes easier to see results. Don't forget to review regularly.

One of my intentions for this year is to regularly check in with myself and how I'm feeling and focus on
Balance, which is my word for the year. When life gets too busy, Balance goes out the window and we often don't realise that we are slowly becoming run down until we end up sick or with an ailment that makes us stop. Including some daily self care which doesn’t have to cost anything, just carving out some time for yourself everyday to be still and slow down, will help to live intentionally and focus on your priorities.

Is there something you have been wanting to do for a while that you haven't gotten to? Why not take up a new hobby, change jobs if it isn't fulfilling you or start a business.

Remember, if you want your year to turn out differently from the previous one, you need to do things differently.
Everything is possible!

What amazing things are you going to achieve this year? What will your word for the year be?

I would love to hear from you, let me know what amazing things are on the horizon for you this year.

With love,
