Daily Rituals
Before I created Daily Rituals I was constantly in Overwhelm. I would find myself running around everyday feeling like I never had enough time to get everything done. I never had enough time for myself and was too exhausted by the end of the day to think of doing anything else. My energy was low, I felt deflated and would get to the end of the week and not know where it had gone. This was a rinse and repeat cycle for a long time. Until I decided that I had to make a change and do things differently.
At the beginning of last year I decided to embark on a Self Care Journey following The Art of Extreme Self Care by Cheryl Richardson, which some of you may have joined me for. If you haven't read this small book, I encourage you to. It is a life changer and certainly changed my life. I started implementing more Self Care into my day and life and the results were incredible.
I noticed my Overwhelm started to disappear as I became more aware of what was triggering it and put steps into place to stop it. I created a morning ritual so I could start my day in a way that felt good instead of just rolling out of bed and jumping on the hamster wheel. I started using the tools I was learning to create the kind of day I wanted to have instead of letting the day happen to me.
I have found that whenever I set resolutions or intentions for the year, I usually struggle to stick with them and they end up petering out. As I mentioned last week, the Why behind your intention is really important if you want to keep doing it. One of my intentions for this year is to exercise more and is something I struggle to keep up. I will start and then something will happen and I'll miss a day and before I know it, I haven't exercised all week and I just can't get back into it. I am determined to do it differently this year. I figure if I could stick to my Self Care challenge for a year then surely I can manage to work exercise into my day so that it works and I stick to it. My Why is to tone my body, to feel good, have more energy and to build strength, fitness and stamina as I would like to go on a walking weekend in the summer with my husband around Cornwall. Yesterday I decided to change my morning ritual and move my exercise to first thing in the morning before breakfast and getting up. Then I have no excuse for not finding time during my day. So far so good and I feel great the rest of my day.
Whatever intentions you have for your year, make it a part of your daily ritual so it becomes habitual and something you expect to do everyday.
Here is my daily ritual:
I meditate as soon as I wake up before I get out of bed. It may be a visualisation of how I would like my day to go or of my dreams or goals or a guided meditation. It can be as little as 5 minutes or up to 20 minutes.
I then get up and do a HIIT workout on You Tube for 15-20 minutes.
Then it's a healthy breakfast and a cuppa with the kids and getting dressed and ready for the day.
I say my daily mantra (from Super Attractor by Gabby Bernstein) to prepare me for a great day
I pull my Angel cards and Affirmation cards and tap into my Higher Self and ask for Divine guidance to help me be the best version of myself today, to make a difference in the world and move me in the direction of my goals and dreams.
I then make sure to have breaks during the day for quiet time and fun as part of my Self Care.
What Daily Rituals do you practice?
I would love to hear what you enjoy doing everyday and what creative ways you have of sticking to your intentions, let me know.
With love,
