Creating more Balance in your life
Sometimes life can feel like it is pulling you in too many different directions. You may find yourself juggling many responsibilities leaving little time for your own needs. Or perhaps you really enjoy your work but it is consuming all your time as you struggle to say No, leaving you exhausted at the end of the day. Do you find yourself experiencing aches and pain or health issues on one side of your body?
We all have masculine and feminine qualities. The masculine encompasses giving, doing, being expressive, action, relationships with men in your life, thinking and the right side of the body. The feminine represents receiving, nurturing, going within, creativity, relationships with women in your life, feeling and the left side of the body. I like to explain this using the image of a scale. We want our scale to be even representing Balance. When it tips too much towards one side, we tend to feel out of balance and may experience health issues on a particular side of our body.
The scale usually tends to tip towards the masculine side as we tend to be much better at giving than we are at receiving. We also tend to get stuck in our heads, overthinking, and letting our thoughts spiral on repeat. This can lead to neck, shoulder and back tension and headaches.
If you find yourself being in your head a lot and find it difficult to switch off, it is important to find balance. How do you do this? By connecting to your heart and using your hands and doing things that make you feel good. When you use your hands, the overthinking gets distracted and you can focus on feeling good and the task you are performing. Find whatever makes you feel good, it could be working in your garden, painting, drawing, making something, cooking, baking, going for a swim. Tap into your creativity. Make a list of all the things you enjoy doing and make time for at least one thing everyday.
Do you nurture yourself or are you too busy looking after everyone else? This is something I see a lot of and I too am guilty of not nurturing myself enough. It is something most people struggle with but is something we all need to be doing. It is absolutely essential or we end up burning ourselves out and running out of energy. It is wonderful to give to others but it is also wonderful to receive and allow others to give to you. When we take care of ourselves it is like putting fuel in your tank so you can keep doing all that you enjoy doing, without ending up with health issues and no energy.
Your body needs to be in balance in order to function optimally, so in order to maintain good health and feel your best, make sure you are balancing both sides and keeping your scale level.
